Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) has confirmed its status. The capital club qualified, Wednesday, Jan. 13, for the semi-finals of the Coupe de la Ligue (League Cup) by beating the Olympique Lyonnais (Lyon) 2 goals to 1 at Park of the Princes stadium, Paris. The meeting was not a walkover for the French champions.
With success, Laurent Blanc's team struck first. Adrien Rabiot took advantage of a misjudgment of an out-of-bounds ball to open the scoring. Lyon didn’t fail to respond as Lyon club president Jean-Michel Aulas that his team was aggrieved by arbitration. Despite this questionable decision, Lyon demonstrated tenacity and team members were rewarded for their efforts with Corentin Tolisso’s goal before half-time.
Double title, PSG joins Toulouse, Lille and Bordeaux, in the remaining four. The semifinals will be held on 26 and 27 January.
